You're a 2x3 inverted ramp. You're a very cool piece that can make for some great clean symmetry. Unfortunately hardly anyone has enough of you to complete the underside of a fittingly impressive looking spaceship.

Good picks! I need to listen to Best of the Left sometime. The ones I listen to include:

Design Critique - they pick a topic, say pocket watches, and discuss its design/history/etc for a half hour

Gay Pimpin' with Jonny McGovern - Are ya feeling really faggedy? Oh, yes indeed!

Irish and Celtic Music Podcast - It's an hour of drinkin' songs every week.

MSNBC Countdown with Keith Olbermann - A 10-minute excerpt from last night, every weeknight. Reminds me that journalism isn't dead yet.

NPR Shuffle - A half-hour set of clips from the previous day's NPR shows. Best listened to in a coffee shop pushing up your nose and stirring your latte with a biscotti.

On the Media from WNYC - A typical NPR talk show, where they discuss how the media's portrayal of the world shifts the way we view the world.

Smart City with Carol Coletta - Urban planning, education, public policy, and some current events.

The Acapodcast - A weekly set of acapella music, 30 minutes long.

Trance Tuesday - Three hours of electronic beats, every week or so.

    1. Culture is a subset of the human race which shares a common set of accepted values, folkways, and mores. You can switch in and out of different cultures via a process termed resocialization, and you can be kicked out of a culture if you violate any of the accepted values. (I've taken sociology so that's more of a textbook answer)
2. One thing that I like about our culture is the value we place on oral communication. We really get off on a speaker who is a) benevolent, b) confident, and c) intelligent. We've been viewing and judging others with these qualities for about 3,500 years, and I think it's the hallmark of our society that we care so much about the character of a person.
3. Reciprocity. My culture includes people who serve others, and who treat others like they want to be treated. We also tend to be mean towards somebody if that person has been mean to us.
4. For two weeks I toured through China, but I don't think that counts as living there. It was pretty incredible.
5. I think the media (and by this I mean the media companies) present other cultures in the manner they think we expect. If the media thinks we want to see a group of Arabian teenagers in a negative light, that's how they'll present it. Whereas if they think we expect a group of Mbawi tribesman to have a positive image, that's how they'll present it. When they guess wrong, that's when we feel as though the media is spinning things.

Don't give up Boss. It's not your style! While I have no clue as to what you are talking about here, I'm sure all the people in KP that you've helped find themselves over the years would gladly put their differences aside when the appropriate time comes. And it will come. Sad as it is, the name calling, rumors, friendships and romantic relationships you mentioned in your post aren't unique to KP but many other campus groups, workplaces, and families. Plus, we all know that you don't have it in you to be apatheic! So surround yourself with those who matter to you, remember that time passes, and believe that people /really do/ evolve.

    It should be

GLBTQQITSA in marches and protests...because its more intimidating
(gay,les,bi,trans,queer,questioning,intersex,two-spirit, allies)

and QnA everywhere else...because its easy
(queers and allies)

getting people to understand GLBT is hard enough tho. A lot of gay people have no idea what it stands for.
