..there has never been anything false about HOPE
"We have been told we cannot do this by a chorus of cynics. They will only grow louder and more dissonant. We've been asked to pause for a reality check. We've been warned against offering the people of this nation false hope.
But in the unlikely story that is America, there has never been anything false about HOPE."

New Boat
Got a new(to me) boat today.. Larson Citation, 175 HP and red..
First order of business is to get her cleaned up and ready to go, gotta get the trailer hitch on the truck upgraded and a bolt for the ski-pole. After that it's time for the naming/re-naming cermony. I've got a call into the previous owner to see if it had a name, if it did there is a fairly complex procedure to rename the boat, if not there is still a fairly complex procedure to name a boat the first time. Available here: http://www.boatsafe.com/nauticalknowhow/rename.htm
It's new name will be... and the geekiest thing I've probably ever done... is... drumroll...

More then meets the eye - Long time no see
So I haven't updated since April, not a whole lot going on.. Everything is standard..
One thing that has been awesome lately is that the Transformers movie just came out. I've been waiting for the movie for 6+ months. This Christmas was great because for the first time since I was like 7 or 8 years old I could get the same toys I got when I was a kid for Christmas. Yes, Yes I am a dork. They re-released the classic transformers, Optimus Prime, Megatron, Bumblebee, Cliff Jumper, Mirage, Grimlock, Starscream, Hot Rod, Ramjet and Astrotrain.
I of course own all of them, and then I went on to buy all the Transformers Alternators, and all the movie toys. So now my entertainment center is covered with all of that. There is nothing that keeps MTU students more entertained then playing with robots that change in to cars and planes and stuff.
The movie that came out this past Monday was awesome. The robots were well done. There was a small section of the movie that could have been removed to make more time with the Decepticons who kinda get shorted on time. The thing that made me absolutely the happiest about the movie is that there wasn't a giant human love story in the middle of a sci-fi/action movie. There was a little bit of stuff between the two human leads but all in all it took a max of like 1 minute of screen time. And that's how it should be, this wasn't a movie about human people, it was a movie about giant F!@#$ robots.
I'll try to post a spoiler-reffic review later below the fold...

Ahmen
From the March 13, article by Gary Kamiya from Salon.com
"For this isn't really about Coulter at all. This is about a pact the
American right made with the devil, a pact the devil is now coming to
collect on. American conservatism sold its soul to the Coulters and
Limbaughs of the world to gain power, and now that its ideology has
been exposed as empty and its leadership incompetent and corrupt,
free-floating hatred is the only thing it has to offer. The problem,
for the GOP, is that this isn't a winning political strategy anymore --
but they're stuck with it. They're trapped. They need the bigoted and
reactionary base they helped create, but the very fanaticism that made
the True Believers such potent shock troops will prevent the
Republicans from achieving Karl Rove's dream of long-term GOP
domination."
